Hi everyone, I was looking at a 92 tracker nitro 180tf. I'm in the middle of restoring my 77 skeeter but this seems like a good deal. I think. The owner was pretty meticulous about its care. Professionally winterized every year. Fogged and shrink wrapped. It has all the bells and whistles,Lowrance finders, Motorguide trolling motor, 150hp Johnson, new batteries, nice carpeting and interior. How can I check it out without drilling holes? The owner loves the boat and isn't going to let anyone drill holes. He also has a 800.00 custom made cover he never put on boat yet. I can get it at what I think is a good price of 4 grand. What do you all think? I appreciate all input. Thanks, Poppop.

Take it to a scale and weigh it, if it's a lot heavier than the package description for the boat it has water intrusion problems.

Has this boat been garage kept?

You probably wont have any problems with it then. This is the kind of used boat you want to find, doesn't really matter who made it... it's who owned it and how they took care of it. If that owner was as meticulous as you say, you need to go ahead and buy that boat now.

I'm afraid if I buy it I won't have time to finish the skeeter, I'll be too busy fishin'

You won't. I did the same thing - also per the admiral "recommendation" - becuase she & son couldn't wait for me to finish my 2252. I bought the 2855 and did not touch my project since. One day, I guess.

Of course you didn't/won't, that's why you sell, trade, or give away the one that needs work. Just get rid of it, get it out of here, somebody haul it away I'm sick of looking at it.

Your situation is exactly why I don't look for another boat yet as well. I am trying to finish up a little tri-hull fishing boat and now that the weather is cooperating I am getting things accomplished pretty well. But I know I will be interested in a bass type boat after this project is complete and don't want to look at any now. Because I may find a good deal that I can't refuse and then stop working this project (Probably not though). So I will wait until this one is complete before venturing on another boat project... JMHO!

Jigngrup,

you talking to me.jpg

:joyous::joyous::joyous:

Well two problems my friend; a psychological one and a practical one. First, I am not a quitter; it is very hard for me to let go of something I invested a lot of time and efforts in. Second, the small boat is trailer boat. I can trail it to where ever fishing is hot without worrying how far it is in marine miles.

I don't know, I might give up to logic and just let go of this project or I might find the time and energy to finish it one day.

Thanks guys, I'm still undecided. The wife wants the nitro and she knows I wont give up on a project, So, her suggestion is to buy the nitro, finish the Skeeter and keep it as a backup and for our sons to use. The only thing I'll need then is some good bass waters in and around P.A.

Right, but as said, ALL resources will go the the Nitro, for upkeep, upgrades, and fuel, My admiral has the same thoughts, wants to just move up...whats keeps her at bay is her completely unrealistic view of boat cost!

In the end, what I would do is tell the sons what I expect for boat progress over the weekend, and ill check on it when I get back from fishing!...but thats just me :D

Play in the Nitro in the summer and work on the Skeeter in the winter, or one weekend out in the Nitro and the next weekend work on the Skeeter... there's more than one way to skin a Bass!
