I just aquired the above motor and its has 92 psi on both cylinders. This seems low but they are both exactly the same and from what I understand this is more important. I would like to change the jets in the carb to bump this to 9.8 and install boyesen reeds. Is the compression to low to get any increased hp by these changes? Thanks.

Changing the carb will not do anything for you. The 9.8 has a different engine block.

Re: Nissan 1996 NS8B Compression Question

I was told that my motor was a 1996. I emailed Nissan today and they replied that it was a 1997 model. I read on here where you said you could change the main nozzle, main jet, and slow jet in a 1998 model NS8B to up it to 9.8. So I made the assumtion you could with my motor as well. I wasn't aware they changed the block. Thanks for the heads up. Does anybody have any experience with the boyesen reeds on this motor or one like it?
