So as the title says, i made an attempt and mating a older outdrive with a little newer engine. The outdrive is an alpha 1 out of a 82' sea ray. The motor is a newer 350 mag, i believe the year is around 87ish? Anyways, i bought the newer coupler with the different mounting holes, but i've ran into a road block since trying to reassemble. I believe either i need a new starter, flywheel, or flywheel housing as the starter does not fit into the housing. I figure there has to be some way of making this work, if they make a coupler to fit the newer motors to the older drive units like this. Does anyone know what is it i need to purchase in order to make it to work? Just a slight hint of what i must do would be greatly appreciated.
