Newbie owner looking for boat specific details

Update:
Project is still on hold because of other life events and Mother Nature (I swear, if I have a free moment, that's the same exact moment the skies open up; my garage can't get built soon enough).

Something that had been bothering me from the get go: paperwork.

My wife bought this boat for me as a surprise gift with no knowledge of what to do when purchasing a used boat (i didn't know what to do either until the boat was already in my driveway.)

Anyway, after joining this forum and seeing every single used boat purchase begin with "make sure all of the paperwork is in order" horror stories, I halted everything. Last week, my wife went to the courthouse and got everything taken care of. The boat and the trailer are registered and titled in our name now...phew. I was worried I'd have to plant it in the yard and pretend to be out boating. In KY the motor is considered part of the vessel and goes on the same title as the boat.

So...now I'm all legal. And if it ever stops raining, I can get back to working on it. Fingers crossed.

Man, life sure has a way of kicking you square in the jewels. Two weeks after my last post, I got Covid (Delta V.). I was hospitalized for a week in critical condition with respiratory failure. In fact, my entire house had it in varying degrees. So, now we are all doing much better and on the mend...the wife and I still have some lasting effects, but we are healing. We were both out of work for a month...so, needless to say, the boat project isn't even on the back burner now...it's not even in the kitchen at this point.

Sorry to hear that. I had a 'mild' case in November (i.e., didn't require hospitalization) and even so, I was extremely sick for a couple weeks. Glad you survived and are out and your family is OK. Sound like it could easily have been worse...

Thank you! Yeah, it was pretty dicey for a while, and the bad part is, I had really no idea just how sick I was and how serious it had gotten until after I was out of the hospital. Everyone in my house got it, but we all had different results. Luckily, all 3 of my boys were pretty much good. 20 y/o was asymptomatic. 11 y/o had a mild fever and vomiting for 2 days, and the 2 y/o had a fever and was just sleepy for a few days. My 14 y/o daughter had nonstop vomiting and was in the hospital for 9 days. I was in the hospital for 7 days with acute respiratory failure and pneumonia; and my wife was in for 12 days with pneumonia. It was the craziest thing I've ever experienced, and the sickest I've ever been. Stay safe out there, y'all!

But you're still not thinking straight.
Off work for a month....
Thats just the amount of time you need to get the boat finished. :)

Ha! I wish I could've! I had zero energy, got incredibly weak just walking to the bathroom. Taking a shower most days took all the energy I had. I was on oxygen for the first 2 weeks I was home. I'm still very heat intolerant...it literally drains every ounce of energy out of me. I still have a fair amount of "COVID brain" too. I can't always think clearly or quickly...some might say that's no different than any other time :LOL:

I'm just glad to be alive right now. I've been scouring through all the boat listings in my area :unsure:...I might try to get a decent starter boat that's water ready and work on the ThunderCraft with my oldest son and give it to him when we finish it. I think this boat thing is a sickness worse than COVID...all I think about is boats...
