Re: New Used Boat, Best Makes?
Thanks again for all of the input. We have a good basis to start the process.
We really like the looks of the Baja 272 that you listed. I think that is the size and style of boat we are after.
As for the sking, it will probably mostly just be pulling grandkids on a big tube, as the old bass rig is a great ski boat, and will be available to pull all of the skiers that want to ride. It just means that the big boat does not have to move everytime someone wants to ski.
As for the size of the boat, 11 grandkids. I think that that pretty much sums it up. Besides, this new boat will be a substitute for a houseboat, which would have been 35 foot.
And yes condition of each individual boat is more important then looks, as each boat has been stored differently, and maintained differently. I am pretty good at checking things out. I do all of the maintenance on my own boat, worked in the automative and RV business for many years, restore old muscle cars for a hobby, and built my own house, so the basic mechanical skills are there. I will also pay for a marine survey, and take the prospective boat out on a nearby lake and give it a good work out. I asked the question of which boat is best to get a starting point to start the process. Everyone has been very helpful. I will keep you posted on how the search is going. I am real picky, so I probably will not buy the first boat we go see.
Thanks,
Charles
