I was given a 2000 Blue Wave 189C that was running last year but now will not start/crank. Before I put a bunch of $ in this I want to get the paperwork straight hence the issue. The titles were lost in a fire. what all needs a title? the motor, boat and trailer? Anything else? I know it has to be registered by TPWD. I just don't wanna miss anything

thanks

Contact local motor vehicle department? Guessing you'd need a title for the boat and one for the trailer. Not all jurisdictions require a title for a trailer however

Most jurisdictions will provide a duplicate title with a proper affidavit submitted with a small fee

I live in Georgia. Title is required for boat and trailer here. Not motor. However in South Carolina, motors require a title also. With a bill of sale signed by the registered owner, I have been able to get a title for several boats. Once you start the paperwork, you should be good. Before I received my title, I kept copies of emails and correspondence between me and the DNR and that seemed to be enough when I was stopped at a boat ramp once. Fortunately, it's an entirely different experience than working with (or trying to work with) the DMV! I found the folks to be very helpful and friendly.

TPWD requires titles for boats and outboard motors. The trailer is handled through the County tax assessor-collector office. I don't have a title for my trailer, just a certificate of origin.

TPWD - Texas . . . Contact them or look on their website. Chances are the prior owner may need to get involved to obtain duplicate titles, and pass them onto you.

@tpenfield is right.....if the PO had all the paper work before the fire, should be able to get duplicate titles, would make things a lot easier.....you could offer to pay for any fees, etc. since you got the boat for free......
