Yes there was a bit of space left on it so I decided to fill it.

Hey Rob here are a few pics of the first gauge cluster I built, these might make it a little easier to understand.

Amazing work John and the fitting is great. :thumb: I don't know how you do it, for me it's measuring twice and cutting 10 times to get it right.

Thanks Glen, thanks Ron, I don't think I will be splashing by next weekend, still have to figure out how I'm going to do the stern section, it has jump seats that are in great shape that I have to recover to match the others I'm using, and Ron cutting out the side panels was easy, it was 10 4/8 wide the total length of the sides, I also want to do the dreaded trailer repaint, need to take the boat off the trailer and I don't want to take off the motor, any suggestions other than putting it in water I have some large 1 foot by 1 foot styrofoam blocks I was thinking of setting it on and no old tires.

I don't know, she's going to be pretty heavy with all the decking and motor on it. Your best bet for ease and hull support would be to leap frog the boat onto another trailer.

Hey John, with you having an out/board the motor probably tilts up to almost 90 degrees. I went to the local tire shop and got 3 wide tractor steering tires for free. They are really wide and not huge in diameter, one for each rear corner and one for the bow. Leave the bow winch hooked up and pull the boat back on the trailer till the tongue gets real light so you have to hold it down, then position the boat where you want to set it on the ground put a tire under each rear corner then let the bow come up till the boat sits on the tires. Now let the winch out a little at a time (6 to 8 inches) and pull the trailer ahead, repeat till you are down either on the third tire or one of your foam blocks. To put it back on, line the trailer up with the boat, hook up the winch lift the tongue up to start the boat on the trailer and start cranking. If you have bunks spray a little silicone lubricant on the carpet and the boat will slide real easy.

Thanks for the advice Rob, Glen, I'm a ways from doing that anyway so I'll worry about it later, most likely have to take out of my hanger otherwise I'll hit the ceiling with the windshield. Got a bit more done today, attached the side panels and rod locker doors, and installed the speakers and door latches.

Those side panel hatch covers look great, I was wondering about leaving them open on my SS.

Really turning out great! Those latches are really nice, where to get those from? Do they have locks?

Thanks Rob they do leave some of the side panels open on some new boats but you will need some kind of supports under the gunnels, they flex down fairly easily if you put weight on them, thanks Frey I got the latches at a marine supply yes they do have loxks.

Got the stern almost done, added cup holders, and a storage hatch with door, still need to fabricate a door for the bottom portion.
