Hello I am a new owner to a beautiful 17ft with a 93 evinrude 48. Hull is solid and transom is solid but I see has som west under the lip that I need to get to the bottom of . Untill I get the engine off and see . I have a question about the encapsulated hull. Previous owner drilled a hole through the bottom . I tore off the wood floor that was bolted to the ground and realized I own an encapsulated boat hull. Now I need to understand the dynamics of this from the factory
Did it come with a wood floor? Why are there bolts from the encapsulated floor holding the wood down . Shouldn’t it be sealed? Do I need to open it up and check the stringers and also repair the small drill hole from both ends? I was gonna seal one side properly with epoxy and fiberglass fabric and seal up all those holes on the top of the fiberglass floor and just sent the wood down on top . It’s heavy enough to just sit on top ? Also . I feel like I need to open up a section and install a bilge . Lol. Please help me understand how I need to deal with the hole and the holes in the floor . Thanks and I’m happy to have this kinda help as I’m learning as I go . P.s I’ll explain/get to the rigged engine bracket as soon as I deal with the structural integrity. Lol

How do you know the hull and transom are solid ? What tests have you done to confirm this ? Previous owner drilled a hole thru the bottom ? All the way thru ? Did water leak in ?

I don’t know for sure. The transom isn’t solid. It’s unknown at this point as I have yet to take off the engine bracket. It’s a curved transom but I see the metal on top popping off a bit and a small crack . But for the age and from what I can feel and hit . It looks like a good candidate for a pour. Yes water got in the incapsulated hull. I took off the wood floor and it was bolted into the hull. I don’t think that was factory. I’ve been repairing the holes on the floor and this storm has been coming in Florida and we’ve had a lot of rain but it’s up so it can drain
