new floor question

first post i'm 60 years old first boat . i've got a 16ft. lowe that i put alum. floor in,now i'm going to put nautolex down it will be 4ftx8ft which 32 sq.ft but they want running yards it comes in 54 and 72in. how many running yards will i need .would like to know in the 54 and 72.thanks for all the help. i would like to thank jigngrub for all his help by the way really learning alot on this forum.love it.

If you're just doing the 4'x8' section you only need 3 running yards of the 54" wide material.

Have you already installed the deck? If so, how did you fasten it, weld or rivets?

rivets iwas thinking about doing the sides which would be 20in wide 8ft long

No, 72" will just be more waste.

6 running yards of 54" will be plenty.

It would be better if you haven't already installed your deck so you can wrap the vinyl around the back of the decking. This will keep the loose edges from curling if you just cut it to lay on top... also, trying to lay the vinyl over the rivets will be a huge pain and will create air bubbles under the vinyl.

wood u take it up and do it right like lay the vinyl down then rivets or maybe ss screws how would do it

Yeah, take it up and wrap it and then put it back down with more rivets.

Make sure you mark the side that goes up and the end that points to the bow on your piece of decking and you can probably use the same rivet holes to fasten it back down.

You want to wrap the vinyl around the back a good 2 inches like this:

Coat the vinyl first, then coat the aluminum, then apply the second coat to the vinyl. The contact cement needs to dry and be absorbed before the second coat is applied, that will happen while you're coating the aluminum.

Coverage is Approx. 200 sq ft. per quart

Based on your posted measurements, you have approx 65 sq ft. You should be able to get the required 3 coats out of 1 qt.
