On mine, the wiring for the TnT is pretty well separate from the motor wiring (and all the wires are ridiculously long). There's two sets of cables going to the battery.

I ended up calling the dealer up.. sounds like somehow the cables were not reattached after the engine was gone through. Odd, but he's mailing me the cables tomorrow.

Yesterday I happened to be up in Saginaw so stopped at the new Cabelas store... walked out with lots of new gear! 2 gallons of 2 cycle oil @ $13/gallon and a transom saver amongst other goodies. I love cabelas trips!

Then today I attached the console to the deck. I used painted 2x2's and self drilling/tapping screws. Now hooking everything up to the engine is my last big project! Several small things like always, but the big tasks are about done.

Chief - Sounds like splash is getting closer. :D I bet the dealer used a set of shop cables and forgot to toss the motor cables in the box with the rest of the stuff.

Looking great and glad the details are getting hashed out.

Looks like you need to be putting a bench seat in so the wonderful Admiral and bride of yours can sit next to you,:joyous: or you can set next to her.:D

Well with the current weather and forecast it doesn't look like splash time anytime soon. Hard to believe my first trip of the season last year out of Lexington was on 3/17 and the water temps were in the low 40's. There is still ice in the harbors. Haven't looked at the St Clair river cam lately but would think that there has got to be some ice floes coming down from the big lake. At least you got ample time to finish it up.

Well, after a month of waiting for the battery cables and power tilt cable, the engine is mounted and running smoothly! Ready for the first splash on my next days off!! Mobile Photobucket
I still need to hook up the horn and fish finder, and swap seats out, but nothing major.

Hey Jas, missed ya! No worries, I bought this one a little before we celebrated the King's rise... after the debacle with the Horrocraft. Then I spent over a month stuck waiting for battery cables to arrive so I could tilt the motor up and continue... kinda stalled out there for a bit. But yesterday I splashed it! Completly toasted a trailer bearing on the way... two hour delay in a AutoZone parking lot. But the engine fired right up and ran beautifully once we got to the river! Hit 41MPH turning a 19 pitch prop...loved it!!

I did find I need to move the bunks on the trailer a bit to properly fit the Mariner, right now one bunk is outside of the port underside stringer and the other is inside the starboard one... Should they both be inside or outside of the stringers do you guys think?

Here are a couple pictures of the boat and trailer. This boat is slightly narrower then the Mirro that was on it, thus putting the stringers right about on top of the trailer bunks.

I'd think she'd be comfortable with em both on the inside eh.

Re: New CC, take 2

Thanks Jas! Next time I launch her I'll move the bunks a bit.

Reading the SC oops thread reminded me about my oops.. I mounted the motor before putting the steering rod into the engine. Right now I have it hooked up to a transom mount and the same bolt on the engine that the other way uses. Its a bit sloppy feeling but works well. Should I take the engine off to switch it or use it as is since it works?

Did we have a stealth splash? No fan-fare or anything. Nice grin, Chief. So other than the bearing dying, everything was good? Good to see one more old tinny cutting a wake:D

couple pics after the winter lay up. I painted the trailer using 2 coats of Rustoleum Professional spray paint coats of Rustoleum Professional White. The professional seamed to coat well without running.

The gunwales i painted starting with 2 coats of DupliColor self etching primer from an auto parts store. Then 1 coat of the Professional primer, followed by 2 coats of Rustoleum Gloss Royal Blue applied with a roller and brush. I found thinning it with about 10% paint thinner worked the best to kinda float out and brush marks.

While the waves were 4-6' according to the forecast so I did not get to try the speed of my stainless 21p prop. But I found out (in the harbor) that my 55 lb trolling motor mounted on the transom moved us along at only 1 mph. Might work for slow trolling, but not overly good as a way to get to shore if our engine died!
