Hey all. Just got a new bower cover for my bowrider and the front lip of the cover, just passed the snaps, like to roll up :\ I am not a huge fan of this because it won't let water roll off. Any one faced this? Any creative solutions to getting the edge to lay flat?

The snaps ought to be close enough to the edge/hem of the cover to keep it relatively flat. That along with the proper tension applied with the tent pole should allow a majority of the water to shed and not collect much if at all

Pictures are fun to look at in situations like this

Canvas. Maybe sunbrella? Came with the boat but old owner never installed.
Some materials have a tendency to curl at the edges when it shrinks, you mentioned old cover so age may have caught up. Is the cover tight after snapped on or a little loose ? When I had covers made in past years, they used a material like convertable car tops are made from with no issues. Many of the cloth feeling materials seem to have curled edges. Talk to a canvass shop, perhaps there may be a fix to the curl...

If the top is new, I suspect it is not fitted properly. Depending on how you want your relationship with the canvass shop to evolve, you might ask them if they can fix it, or if all their products look this way.

Some fabric edges on covers have a stiffener material inside the hem to help with that.

Newly fitted and made? or older and not used?
The material may have shrunk if older but not used/kept stretched. Maybe reseal it (several good products out there) and while wet, put it back on/snapped but flat, then keep increasing the pole length to get it to stretch and drain. Pics might help you get more specific info.

Thanks all for the replies. It was a new cover, without snaps. I installed snaps to match the existing snaps on the boat. I’ve been able to force the canvas down and after some rain and dry cycle it seems to be flatter now.

I left my cover off for a couple months one summer. It shrank so much I could never get it on again.

I have had many Sunbrella covers for over 20 years ?? None ever changed shape or color. Some needed to be cleaned and made more water proof in a low area.

My last cover was made by a semi truck tarp company. A bit heavy but after more than 15 years, no cracks, no shrinking, no discoloring, no retreating to make it waterproof. Yes they are heavier, and harder to wrestle around, but I expect it to outlive me and cost less to begin with.
