New Binnacle for older Johnson??

I just picked up a nice newer style binnacle OMC# 176372. It has the trim switch in the handle along with the keyswitch and lanyard. What I would like to know is will I have any trouble hooking it up to my 1989 60HP Johnson? I realize that the harness wont plug in, but I figured as long as I can figure out the wiring color codes I can just cut and splice with the wires from my harness. Also, the yellow with red stripe lead from my harness seems to have faded to a different color. Is there an easy way to determine which one it is?

I think you can buy an adapter plug to match them up .

If you haven't make sure the throttle and shift cable ends match what is on your engine before you start, if they don't match it is a no go.

Find an adapter if you can if not peel back the cover a bit to find the wire color, I have an 81 50 that I had that problem on.
