Neutral Detent

My detent on my 2001 Yamaha engine control is not working and wondering if any of have seen this problem and what the solution was. 115 4-stroke if that matters.

we need a little more info.
What are you calling a detent and how is it not working

What are you calling a detent and how is it not working

What I mean is that there is nothing stopping the throttle/gear shift from going directly from forward to reverse or vise versa.
The button used when leaving neutral seems to be stuck in the engaged position.
