Need your opinion

If adult children are getting a momento for their parents for a 50th wedding anniversary and want it engraved does that include childrens' spouses? Grandchildren? Or just the children?

Let's make it as complicated as possible and include the grandchildren's boyfriends and girlfriends. And any brothers in law and sisters in law, and any ex- spouses. :^ :%

Just the children. ! !
Spouses are not family, and may not be family in the future, so don't mess up a possible heirloom with the spouses names.
Grandchildren can do their own thing, if they want, if they can afford it, etc.

I wolud say just from the children. Then again it my depend on what or how personal the momento is. Years from now it might be nice to see how the family tree branched out at the time of their 50th (at least from those parents to date). Hard to say Bassy, proper etiquette eludes me.

Very much disagree with Roscoe.
I see the reasoning,but it is based on pessimism.
This present is for the parents and symbolizes a milestone in their lives.
It should be from the whole family to the ones who started this clan.
Unless you know that there are divorces in the making,such a present should have no "what if" undertones.
Not every family has divorces and unless there is clear evidence of soon to be ex spouses ,the idyllic picture should be presented to the old folks.

Just the kids, there spouses will understand, When I do family portraits we do 2, 1 with and 1 without the spouses.

I vote children only. I have one little sidebar on this though.
If this sidebar causes you any grief I ask your forgiveness.

If there were any children that did not survive to see the 50, include them as well. This includes those that may have died in infantcy.

You may have forgotten them or never even knew them, but I can promise you your parents haven't.

I will just add that my parents did this for my grandparents about 12 years ago. They had a family tree made with EVERYBODY on it. Two of the step kids and an uncle that are on that tree are no longer in the family or liked by anyone. My advice is too keep it to blood relatives.

just the kids.
good idea of rwise with photos tho.

My Grandmother hit the 100 12yrs back. There are people in the official photo no one knows the names of etc......just partners at the time.
