Need Used Boat Help - Winner

Hi All,

I love the forum and hope your big brains can help. I have located a 1970 Winner B...... (not sure how to spell the model) 18ft with a trailer for $500. It has a blown motor. I will be going to look at it this weekend (Sat). I think I found a pic of one (on the internet) - it has a roof with a small cuddy and matches teh description I got over the phone.

I did alot of internet searching and can not find much info on this model boat,

Are they a reasonable boat and can you get parts?

Any areas to pay close attention to?

Are inboard boat motors the same as car motors with regards to the block, head, compression, etc...? Any suggestions on motor replacement would be appreciated.

How can I be sure the transom and floor are solid?

Again, any tips would be appreciated.

We need to know what engine/drive is in this boat in order to be able to help you.

I was told a Chevy 4-cyl motor. No idea on the drive.

Need to know. Merc good, OMC bad.

It would be either Merc or OMc, VP used volvo b18s/b20s/B21s in that era for 4 pots.

How and where do you check for rot?? Any help is appreciated.
