The shift linkage is displayed on the Cylinder and Crankcase diagram.

isnt there a shift cable that runs down to the lower end that runs in the housing with the driveshaft thats what i need to see

No cable, just a shift rod that is lifted and lowered by the linkage at the engine. The shift rod shows on the gearcase diagram.
