IMG_20230303_172954701.jpgI have a old Chrysler sea king 9.2hp outboard that does not seem to be sparking at correct time. The points were burnt and not working when I got the motor. I might have slightly over sanded the points trying to clean them up and through the timing off. The plugs now spark. The problem is its not poping and sometimes back firing.. Does anyone know model number for the points and where I can get a new set...Thanks in advance.

I do not have the parts list for this engine but I think the points are the same as for the later small Chrysler engines.
It should be F12153-1.
When I look at the pic and as you says you have spark but it would not fire maybe back fire I think you flywheel key is shared.
The key should set the cam follower and the flywheel in right position and I think it is broken as it looks like it is flush to the cam follower.
The key should be longer so it goes into the key grove in the flywheel.

File the points, relube and reset. They will last another 30 years

Backfire: I have to ask, plug wires on the right plug? had to ask :)
You are a genius that exactly what it was!!! I got it running first try after I swapped them :) Thank You :) Looks like I still have to fix the water pump though as it doesn't seam to be working, but I am so happy.
