Hi,i need opinions on repairing the stringers.Im not looking to replace them, but they have some rot and i want to reinforce them.It is a 1987 maxum 17 ft bowrider. The stringers are made of plywood encased in fiberglass.I took 2x4s and covered them in fiberglass and sistered them to the old stringers using deck screws. The 2x4s run the full length of the stringers.Again i know i should just replace them but i just dont have the time and am worried about tweeking the hull.Any opinions are appreciated.

the only problem with sistering is that once the stringer does rot out....the new 2x4 is not glassed to the hull......so you have to do it all over again...

this could happen in as soon as a season or two depending on the amount of rot
