Re: Need help with slave/starter solenoid

Very well may be, kind of why I asked about a picture of his engine between the manifold and heat exchanger.
It's tough to troubleshoot a home engineered electrical system when you only see one part of it. (a really corroded one at that).

video shows the slave and the starter solinoid this one is a third one that was added proberly as a way to charge both batteries and is not part of the engine system

zang go ahead and remove the ignition wire from the coil to the unknown solinoid as this is adding a resistive load that was not calculated in the original design. Then check the points

Re: Need help with slave/starter solenoid

Just watched the video again, for some reason it ended after showing the coil the first time I watched it. My bad.

Yes, there are way to many solenoids, my post #8 has the invisible file with the OEM wiring. the other one shows the same thing.

To the OP, fix it right and get rid of the extra stuff.

Sel2 - YouTube

There is another video. I will remove the red wire from ign to that old solenoid and see what happens. Like I said nothing changed here so it HAS to do nothing. I just don't have spark so I guess I will trace other leads.

** it may be processing at 6:12p est so thats why it may stop).. should be 1:52**

I have posted how it should be wired. Get rid of the garbage.

Yes, both batteries have a neg, one each side of the larger terms. And yes, that is right. No spark is the original issue. Maybe I went off on a wild goose chase with this weird sel.

yep delete all that junk we can do a sperate post on how to link two batteries and its not that way. Once you have at least the wire going to coil removed try to crank it and see if you have a spark if not check the points

Re: Need help with slave/starter solenoid

Well I removed that one and its still trying to crank. To me this says it must not be the starter circuit right? Time to move onto the coil and stuff. Thank you for all the insight! It is good to get rid of that if its not needed /factory.

Thanks a ton!

Re: Need help with slave/starter solenoid

Now that you have it the way it should be, what is your problem exactly. Not having spark is a problem not normally considered a part of the cranking system.
Cranking = Starter spinning the engine.
Starting = Engine runs without the starter cranking the engine.
