Have you checked out FrisoBoaters Foam install video? If not I'd Highly recommend it. 1" holes are NOT big enough IMHO!!

I've seen a few of his videos. I can buy another drill bit. No prob there. I'm sure 2 inches will be fine...wouldn't want any bigger.

Anyone have any ideas about that plastic wrap sheeting??

2" or 2.25" are good for foaming. You want to get that stuff under the deck fast, before it kicks off, and small holes will make that very difficult. After you replace the wood pucks in the holes, fill with PB and glass over them, you'll never know they were there.

Don't know about the plastic sheeting.... maybe to keep the foam dry in case of water intrusion below the seats? Doesn't make much sense, though...

Thanks. Now that I think about it, it seems as though the plastic sheeting was coming out of the gunwale and hanging down into the bottom side of the boat. Maybe this is just for the gunwale??

Okay guys, I have an update:

I finished the seat bases last night and marked the exact areas they will be screwed onto the deck. However, I got to thinking about my seats this morning and feel like I may have messed up on the bases somehow.

I have back to back lounge seats made by Bayliner. They are not the kind you can buy online that come with a 10" plastic base. Instead, they don't come with a base and they have two metal poles that stick out (one on front and one on back). There is plywood joined to the bottoms of the seats and backs of them.

Here is a link to the Bayliner model where you can see what I am trying to describe.

http://www.iboats.com/Bayliner-Capri-Classic-Back-to-Back-Lounge-Boat-Seats/dm/view_id.374671

Now please take a look at image 4 and especially image 6 that I posted on my original post.

This is what the seat bases looked like before I ripped them out. I took exact measurements of everything. Now here is what concerns me:

The sides of these bases measure exactly 3" high. I believe this to be what bayliner intended bc the foam measures 3" high also. There was some sort of a gel coated top piece as well. However, there is what appears to be a 1" high piece of molded fiberglass that is on the side of the base (this is a boundary for the width of the seat bottom boards). It looks like at one time there was one of these 1" pieces on the outer side too. SO?..what I am thinking is that the seats must have originally sat up in these 1" sides to allow airflow under the seats to prevent mold maybe??? ALSO, in that link (very bottom of page) there is a diagram which suggests that these seats are supposed to be inserted in a side rail bracket, however there is absolutely no evidence of these brackets ever existing in my boat.

Furthermore, I have been trying to look at every Bayliner 1401 LS Capri that I could find pics of online and it looks like all of the seats in those pics (from about 3 to 4 different boats) came up 2 to 3 inches higher than mine. I would like them to be like the factory had them and with that foam being exactly 3" high on mine and the old sides being that high, I can't see how these seats would have been 2-3 inches higher. I also don't see how they were ever fastened down.

Please if anyone has any idea on this let me know. Thanks!

Hi ERock - Did you replace your stringers and bulkheads before installing the new deck?
