Ok so I bought this wellcraft bowrider for a steal... and put the outdrive up to tow it yesterday and when I got home the outdrive wouldn't go down... it is a 3 button type with the trailer button and up down. If I bypass both solenoids directly from the battery the outdrive will go up and down. Can I assume the issue is the two solenoids or should I check something else? Help now what?

Re: need help with Merc power trim outdrive

update ok so I traced all of the wires didn't find any fuses and didn't find any breaks in the wires.... Then I cleaned every solenoid connection and took the main plug out and cleaned and filed (with fine file) all the connections still nothing... the trailer switch still works but no up or down... its odd cause the up did work but now even it doesn't work.... so anyone have any suggestions now... need help cause I am suppose to take this on vacation on Saturday and if I don't have the boat the kids will drive me crazy...lol

Take a picture so we can see the wiring for the up and down solenoid at the same time. Get that white hose out of the way.
Trying to see how it's all wired together.
Need to be at about the same distances as your down solenoid picture above.

Not sure what you mean by that. If the trailer switch works, the drive is going up.

another question... I talked to a merc repair shop and they said "its got to be the solenoids" but that would be odd for both to go out at nearly the same time? Also, another shop told me that it could be the trim sending units... but if it was the trim sending units how can the outdrive still go up or down when I jump the solenoids?

They are just throwing out suggestions.
In order to find out what is wrong takes troubleshooting not a quick phone call looking for free information.

Instead of posting from photobucket, just post the picture from your computer using the method in my link. You are just adding extra steps with photobucket.

Re: need help with Merc power trim outdrive

There is always something different and wrong about Internet Explorer 10, I have it too, but never use it. I can't open links with it

Ok, now I'll look at your pics and see if I see anything.
