If spark seems good and all spark plugs are firing (i.e good burn)

1) ensure carbs are clean, i'd do a carb kit on all carbs
2) Do a link and sync following the OEM manual (you do have an OEM manual...?)

once your sure the valve are synchronized and your timing is good and being advanced with the throttle. water test it again and post your results here.

Were all the plugs black and oily? might be a little rich do you have mains jets 62d also i would suggest getting a spark tester at auto zone test each cylinder set the gap at 7/16 and turn it over should see bright blue spark .

74 d might be too rich for 4200ft try 72d at least on the top 4 cylinders for sure elevation kills makes them run like a pig

ok i put new jets in it and synced the carbs took it out on the water and it is hard starting in the water sometimes.it ran good going forward at low range then mid range acted like it was missing then full throttle once you get going if you back it of slightly it runs beautiful now i am going to pull the carbs and adjust the floats it is getting to much and dripping out but other than that are there any suggestions to try thanx in advance

The floats must be correct for it to run right, if they're off it'll really mess you up.

Also, what do you mean by "dripping out"? Can you see fuel spitting out the front of the carbs when it's running or what? The reason that's significant is that if you can see fuel spitting out like that (sometimes you can only see it after dark with a timing light acting as a strobe) it's a pretty good indication there are issues with the reeds.

ok i put new fuel lines on it and primer bulb adjusted the floats and now it has good mid range and top end but now it wont idle and is hard stating once it has been started. When first in the water it fires right up but then after a min of running it dies and will only start with the warm up lever all the way up and is still hard to start even at that thanx

they are around 700-750 in gear when it will idle most the time it wont it seems to idle ok when you first run it but once you run it around the lake it wont idle or start unless you pull up the warm up lever
