Need help verifying float level

I recently changed my needle and seat on the two carbs for my 1968 merc 500 which caused my float level to change. Looking at the pic I believe I still need more adjustment as I read the bars need to be level with the pins. What do you all think?

The end of the lower lever straight up 90 degrees to the top lever should be 1/4". All the old Merc Tillotson pics I've seen are 1/4" for that.
