Need help on a Name

[SS MAYFLOAT]

I finally located a Newfy (Newfoundland/Lab) to replace our dog Bear. I go in the morning to pick him up in Michigan. Wife and I are trying to come up with a name. We would like it to be related to boating. So far "Rudder" is one we like, but not set on. Please no names relating to anti-freeze. <br /><br />He is only 8 weeks old and weighs 19 pounds (littlest of the litter) his siblings are from 20 to 28 pounds!<br /><br />Any thoughts would be appreaciated. Thanks......SS I'm happy now!

I like troller. Good one.<br /><br />I've always let my pets name themselves. They have a way of doing that. <br /><br />They typically do something that is unique to their personality. Watch him, and when he does this, try and give it a boat related twist.<br /><br />For example: Our cat 'Cricket'. When we brought her home, the first thing she did was hunt and find all the crickets around the house and eat them. She eats them like candy! We figured cricket would be a fitting name.<br /><br />H.

Troller is a great name. I can't top that.<br /><br />I allmost named our current dog "trailer" because she follows me EVERYWHERE. But Mrs. 12Footer didn't like that name. So we have Bambi.....(sniff).

So far so good, Some of the good names that I like doesn't meet the war deparments (wife) approval. They say Newfoundlands are a natural born water rescue dog. They sure are a great dog.

Mayfloat<br /> Congradulations on the newfoundland dog. I am from Newfoundland and i found the newfy dogs are not all that smart. I remember one that got caught in a bear trap and it chewed off three of its legs before it realized it was caught by the Balls.

since he's going to be a fishdog.A big fishdog,<br />he might not mind a fishy name.<br />Rudder is good. Bobber might not be out of place<br />as he will be at home in the water, Newfies love<br />the water. Bear would be a good name as he will<br />likely be as big as one. My head is starting to<br />smoke so I will give up the thinking thing for<br />awhile.....
