I remember growing up, My grandfather had a<br />passion for Rhodesian Ridgebacks beautiful dogs,<br />anyway one of them died of old age when I was<br />only 5 or 6.My mother went out and bought him a<br />New pup, of course it was another ridgeback.As the<br />years passed he replaced the dogs with a few more<br />ridgebacks before my grandfather finally passed <br />away.All dogs were named Duke. I guess he really<br />liked the name.

Hey NOSLEEP, My brother and I both have ridgebacks.His is named Duke and mine is named Buck.

I'd vote for Duke. "I guess he really liked the name." Yep I think so too. <br />You can't call a dog Bear. For obvious reasons.<br />

We had two hospital cats a few years ago and I named one "Livebait", and the crew named the other "Christmas". They both got into a lot of trouble and everybody knew the mane of them all over the hospital site. Now there's x400 staff and acres of land with many cats and they were the only names the staff recalled.<br />Livebait got taken one night and never seen again and Christmass is now 11 years old. Sleeps on the patients beds. They consider it an honor to be chosen.<br />Ross

Tks JB, I think its just the greatest name. I have only heard of it once, (extended family's dog) But it really sticks with me, and it applies to fishing also!

Thanks guys for the help. Picked him up yesteday. 10 hour trip, but it was worth it. He is 12 weeks old, 28#. He is a handfull and smart. Fetches already, and seems to be a well mannerd dog. I know for the next 3 months is going to be more work than I had planned, but hey he really loves me already. He won't leave my side at all. Potty traning I think is going to be a little bumpy, but he is smart enough to learn a routine.<br /><br />I just got to keep in mind "Train the Dog" not let him train me! <br /><br />Well Mr Evin300, you helped me before with the advice of using a chainsaw for repairing my boat. This time you came up with a name for my Dog. "Keeper" is what it is going to be....Thanks a whole bunch. And thanks for the other ideas. Later this summer (if we have one) I'll get some pictures posted so that you can see him. .......SS

Boy ol boy, this dog is great. Hasn't chewed anything but his toys. Made a few mishaps, but now on a routine and is doing real well. I'm think he is a "Keeper".... SS

I must say "keeper" is a very appropriate name for the pup you descibe.<br />not sure about the chainsaw info from evin300 though?

Hey 2stoke, welcome to the board. I must say that you know all to well about chainsaws and boats! <br /><br />2strokeit is my brother, and partner in crime on many boat and engine projects, I think you all will find that he is quite knowledgeable.
