I picked up an Evinrude outboard that I thought was a 25 HP but I would like to confirm the HP and Year. Here is the SN: 25022-18690. Does any one know for sure what this is? I put a photo of the hood if it helps.
Yep, 25022 is a 1956 30hp. Either the hood or the serial number plate has been swapped. Look at the cylinder head. A 1957 (35hp) has compression relief valves next to the spark plugs.
A 1956 30hp does NOT have a compression relief on the head, making yours most likely a 35hp with a 30hp clamp bracket/serial plate. The serial/model number should also be on a small disc on the cylinder block.
