Carb gunked up crank bearings noisy as all hell ,looks like it fell of the back of a truck several times , gear lever broken . It does have good spark (⅜" plus ) and 120psi compression .
There is no identifying numbers to be found and Im hoping at least one of you clever blokes can give me a year or model number so I can suss some parts prices for these guys .....and try to get them to find another motor 😁.
Thanks

Not worth fixing.----A motor marketed as a Mercury.----Marketed as many others as well.

That is a 1985-86 year model and as racerone marketed as Mercury and also marketed as Tohatsu.
Here in Europe it also was rated as 4Hp, I have maintain a couple of these and it is a good motor but with a noisy crank it will be expensive to fix.

Yeah ,I know that ,even if it wasnt beaten up , but I gotta convince these kids of that and giving them a decent kick in their piggy bank and hopefully they will be able to see for themselves.........otherwise Im just going to tell them "no Im not doing it ". Problem is is that it does run and a carb kit will fix the immediate problem and I dont know how long they have been running it with the noisy crank but I bet they will want to keep using it . It then becomes a safety issue.......might have to speak to the Dads ( both good guys ).
