Hello all.
I started a tear down and rebuild over a year ago.
My machinist was 70+ yrs old and in his defense I told him I wasn’t in a hurry.
Well 14 months later I got my block back with a new sleeve and all cylinders bored .020” over.
He said he couldn’t get parts.
Now I ordered a kit off line and a week later the people emailed that they didn’t have pistons in 20 over.
I checked another source that I know in Florida and he said same thing.
Do any of you know where I can get it.
This covid crap is to blame.
But that’s a whole different topic.

I have a pair of counter-rotating 150’s being the 1 that I just got back.
And then I have a 175 that is missing the lower unit or the “foot”
So I am fairly committed to this direction.
I started with the worst engine and the other 2 “”did”” run.
But my intent was build this then get 2nd freshened up or rebuild it too.
But I wasn’t going to tear down 2 engines at the same time.
Then I have the 175 that is same block and a backup for parts if I don’t invest a lot in it.

Thanks in advance

Just remember there is no parts for sale, give away or trade permitted in the forum

Did you have block pressure tested after sleeve replacement?
I talked to him about pressure testing.
Before the work was done.
And he said he didn’t have a way to do that.
But…. That he had done a pile of those with no such issues.
I remember you saying that no reputable builder would do a rebuild without testing.
Good thing is I have 2 other motors the parts should fit. If this issue gives trouble.

Thank you for the reply.

That was the question.
What’s the right place.

Both places I was dealing were machine shops that bought from both companies that begin With a “W”. There are several w said companies.
And they couldn’t get them.
I did the sleezway thing and found the correct listed set.
This place appeared to be a jet ski, boat specialty. As I checked their other parts for sale.

Well the kit that they had listed available wasn’t.
So that’s 3 places.
And it’s been 20-30 years since I tried to buy and all my old contacts are long gone.

Thanks again.

WISECO distributor is who I use.-----Should be lots on E-BAY too.
You replied while I was editing my previous post.

I’ll try them directly.
I used to be a dealer there 20-30 years ago when I was into dirt bikes

Or ---mastertechmarine----$1250 for a kit.
I just got off the phone with wiseco.
Great company still after all these years with no contact with them.
They referred me to promarine who handles their wisco pistons.
Was told that they don’t sell marine pistons directly. Or maybe only to direct dealers..,
But they did check for me.
And same story.
None in stock.
A huge order has been placed, but no work order to actually produce at this time, but it will happen……, eventually.
But none are in stock.
Give it a good several weeks to maybe a month or so.
Was what I was told.

Interesting. How it’s gone full circle.

Guys.
I just came out smelling like a rose. Maybe some chocolate too.. lol. Twisted humor.

Found everything… at 1 place.

And saved about 4oo-600 bucks from what I was finding online.

Problem solved.

Thanks guys for starting the gears turning and scratching old brain cells.

Like I said said in a different post.
It’s been 25-30 years since I did anything major.
I have done some 120cc chainsaws and harley stuff.
But all my old contacts are dead or long out of business.
My previous machine guy just passed later this past year.
Come to think of it I’m not so young anymore myself. Psssed the 50’s.

But thanks again everyone.

I've had ZERO issues with Vertex pistons. cannot say the same about WSM im afraid. I'd give the USA distributor a call, and ditto for Racer's recommendation of Bill at Mastertech maxrules.com

Took a motor apart last month.----1993 crossflow 90 HP.----Had been apart before and 2 new standard pistons had been installed.-----Found damage at the wristpin retainer grooves.------No identification marks on those 2 pistons.-----I use WISECO or factory pistons.
