Hi.
I am setting up a speed boat (18' fiberglass shallow V Kona, Vintage 1970)with a 235HP outboard (Evinrude) and a lower unit with a nose cone and low water pickup.
I am seeking advice about how high to set the motor (In relation to the bottom of the transom)
What type of prop to run,
And about jack plate settings.
I am ready to purchase a jack plate, but am up in the air about getting a manual lift or hydraulic.
Is this jack plate setup a 'set it and forget it' setup, whereby I would only need to lower it if I wanted to say: pull a skiier, otherwise just leave it high? OR,
Is it a situation where I would be constantly lifting and lowering the motor from acceleration to top end?
Thanks, John
