Thanks for the explaination. I've never traded off hours and didn't realize the impact of a block in that situation.

Better be careful or you might end up bunking with Martha (just kidding, :D ).

Re: Need a stock pick.

:) Wife and i been in stocks for a few years and we live of our dividens now!! ;)

When we started we learned the hard way at 1st, lot of stocks with no divs' lost money and more money!!!

To me, buy-sell buy-sell is a day trader "losers"!!! They are like a gambler, tell what they won, but never what they lost!!! Every sunday we go out to eat with a group of friends!! all we hear from one friend is how his son in law is making a killing day trading!!! Well, that son in law lost house; BMW etc: So much for day traders!!!

I'm no expert and don't understand stocks, but long term = dividens in proven stocks and you still need to watch them!!!

Good Luck to anybody in Stocks!!! ;)

Re: Need a stock pick.

i was fortunate to buy sirius about 6 months ago when stern hinted he would run. i got lucky and picked the right company. i would still go in hard at this point. i have a funny feeling sirius will jump over xm and become a strong, profitable company. it won't take long for satellite tv broadcasts to make it to your car. i predict in less than 10 years, most people will be "watching" the news as they drive to work.

Re: Need a stock pick.

Thanks BiXLL
A couple more to look into over the week end. I love this, you guys are great.
Flyrod
Like I said before I have 15 out of 18 company's pay a good if not awesome dividend . Here is a couple of my Reits check it out for yourself. NLY today $19.54 a share and pays .50 a share a quarter. MFA today $9.15 a share and pays .23 a share a quarter. Wont get that kind of payoff on a bond. Then there is RPM (a material's company) today $18.27 a share and pays .15 a share per quarter and it keeps going up. Also I don't day trade. Learned my lesson the hard way back in 2000. I also only to allow myself to short term trade (under a year) so much (about 7 to 10%) within my total holdings.
PS I watch everything a least once a day if not more. I believe no one cares for my money more then me. Thanks for you advice. I will keep in mind.
Mattttt25
I hate you. :p Like I said before when I got out of Rite-aid I had a choice CNXT that wend down and SIRI when it was at $2.00 I wanted SIRI but stupid me thought CNXT would be a better investment. Now SIRI is at $6 plus and I keep waiting for a pull back. What do you think, will it happen? I here a good entry point is at $4 ????? Even on down days it keeps going up. I just wish I had the nerve to pull the trigger anytime over the last two weeks.

I think siri will see 8 before it see's 4. I've sold 2/3rds of my pos. and will buy back if it pulls back to the 5- 5.5 range.I think Christmas sales reports will determine where the stock goes in the next month or so. I think I might have sold to early, but wont cry over 300% gain.

satellite technology products are a good play. I'm starting to do some research in cvc/rme.

I don't gamble, I wont step foot in a casino. But I buy-sell-buy-sell, I just do it over a yearly/ monthly/weekly range. Big diff. between making an intelligent, logical choice and a game of chance. I don't have the personality to be a "day trader", scares the crap out of me. But to each his own.

Thanks Big
I will add them to my list.
"I don't gamble, I wont step foot in a casino. But I buy-sell-buy-sell, I just do it over a yearly/ monthly/weekly range. Like the way you do your trades, it is a lot slower and more my speed.

I hate to gamble with money also.

My IRA is pretty dang conservative and my portfolio is diverse.

Depending on your philosophy and just plain gut feelings, here's another option.
The Prudent Bear Fund (BearX) can be bought right now at an historical low, (buy low, sell high.)
Investing in a bear market does take patience.

Skinny
Thanks and I will keep it on my list but I do not believe at this time we are in a Bear market for that matter. IMHO I think there is a lot of up side to this market just a choppy road getting there. I will keep it on my list and thanks.
Robby
IMX is on my radar. I just want to check into the competition and if there is any problems with there's.
revermastec
What made this stock go into the dirt over the first six months of this year? Seems like they are making a good come back. I see they had a good quarter. Do you think it is sustainable? Got in late tonight. I will look more into it tomorrow.
Thanks Guys.

Re: Need a stock pick.

Accounting issues with some over inflated numbers. One of the big players in the new fiber to the home verizon, sbc and Bellsouth are going to do. They fired some people hired a new accounting firm and as soon as the nubers for the year finaly come out I think it is only going up.
