My Boat cut out when I hit a decent size wave today. Merc A1G1 3.0.

I was out today when I hit a good size wave the boat cut out. It happened twice, It then started up with no problem, just wondering what to check, if anyone has had this issue before. I'll start with grounds, harness and battery connections.

The fact that it died and would restart would lead me to the kill or shift switch.

Only thing I can think of the would instantly kill a motor yet come right back up w/o intervention

What is the interrupter, and where is the location.

Shift plate.

You just had the engine out for stringer and transom replacement ?

Would start with what you oultined in first post batt cables , cannon plug. Could be any loose connection from battery up to helm /keyswitch back to engine.

you can easily disconnect interrupt to test, just remember that you wont be able to come out of gear on the water without it.

As scott06 mentioned check the cannon plug, remove it then with a thin screwdriver try to expand the male pins slightly. Then be sure it is fully engaged, if it was help on with a worm clamp do not tighten it too much as this could distort the connections.

The key ignition was loose. I tightened it up
The next time I go out I'll see if that was the fix. Thanks everyone

The Cannon plug is tight, and I have a nice thick wire tie around it to keep it secure. I think it was my ignition cylinder, it was substantialy loose.
