OK, thanks for the response....what you guys have said makes a lot of sense. From the day I installed the "bilge bowl" it seemed pretty small. My other boats didnt even have a bowl though, so I guess I dont really have anything to compare.

This is what it looked like....

So I just put it back in....

Its not very wide, maybe 6 inches from transom to the front of it on the top/deck side, tapers to 3 on the hull side .....not even really sure of what the purpose of it is, as small as it is , Its very difficult to even reach the bottom of it.... Ive thought about glassing in some screen over top, just so nothing happened to fall in it......

Anyway, thanks for the info.....

It looks like the old set up did not have the knee braces . You might drill some drain hole on both sides of the brace so water don't collect in the corners .. If all the area is tucked under the splash If it was me I would think about making the bowl bigger ... Maybe bring it all the way up to the front of the knee brace .. That would make it much easier to clean out and install a pump if you choose to put one in .. Make it a square bowl ..
Just an idea .. Looks like you'll be having a new dance floor soon !!

Lots of reasons to do a pump, security, safety, backup just in case. I would recommend a float switch. I did have two in my MFG. Went on vacation with the family and boat and docked it for the week. Was very nice! The dock required the pump for liability purposes. She too was a trailer queen.
Just a thought. Oh yea I forgot the plug once also!!! Pumps saved the day.

Thanks Sam, yea these pix were from this spring. Floor is all done. Yes, I added the knee braces. On the drainage, I left a gap at the end of the deck, where it intersects with the transom for that.

Work that is left to do, next time the top is off......its pretty crowded under there...

So if I were to put one in, do you route the hose from the pump to the splash well drain? Are they wired "hot" all the time?

I'd go out the transom or side. Putting it back into the splash well can make double work for the pump{s} if you are taking on water. A float switch is hot and activates on water level setting off pump. So yes it is hot but you could also wire it to a switch.Works like a ballcock in a toilet. Personally I'd go out the side, way above water level in that box you're building to the left. Hate putting holes in a transom.

Yup if you put one in, dump it out the side under the gunwale in the back using some flexible hose.

Wire a constant hot lead to the pump float switch and add a master switch at the helm if the float switch fails you can manually override it.

I even piped my washdown pump with a pickup tube in my bilge...I can pump water in from outside or switch valves to pull from the bilge.....it's a good backup system ;)

Pleats, pleats and some more pleats.......Got this pretty much done today.

Really wish I hadnt put the blue accent stitch on it. Just going to live with it I think....it should look a bit better when its all final installed and margins are even.

Hope you all have a short week!!

I really like this boat. There are so many things about it that scream cool. That vinyl really looks good. It almost has an Ed Roth feel to it. Keep up the good work. Hope it's a good and short week for all of us.
