Re: my 14' tom boy project

Ok, I gotcha now. Wow!!! Yeah looks like it got hit HARD!!! Oh well, nuthin we can't fix. Grind it down on the inside to good glass, then 2 layers of CSM and a layer of 1708. On the outside grind it down smooth then two layers of CSM and then a lot of sanding and fairing with fairing filler. When you're done and paint her you'll never know it was there.

To some degree but not unless it's over 90%. Right now I wouldn't worry about it.

Yep, grind around the area and CSM and 1708 will do the trick.

Re: my 14' tom boy project

Nope CSM Side always goes down. CSM against CSM. The resin acually kinda MELTS the csm fibers and makes it all on contiguous resinous material. For a hole like that I'd precut my patches and wet em out on a piece of wax paper in reverse, i.e. 1708 2 1/2" circle cloth side down on the wax paper wet it with resin then lay the 1 1/2" circle of CSM on top of it wet it out then take the whole thing paper and all and place it on the hole. CSM down on the hole, wax paper out. Put some Packing tape over the hole on the outside to act as a backer first. Use a bondo spreader to smooth out the patch and the air bubbles, let it set for about 10 minutes then peel the paper off. Voila' DONE!!!
