MR outdrive - no reverse after changing lower shift cable

Replaced lower shift cable. Now can’t get into reverse. Any ideas of what to look for? I dread having to pull the drive again.

Did you install the cable fully seated in the housing. cant have more than 2 threads visable

Also, when shifting into reverse with the engine running it triggers the shift interrupt switch

If you mean the bell housing, yes. I made sure the outer cable was properly seated.

Does you properly adjust new lower shift cable?

Yes. No reverse and engine dies when shifting into reverse. Even with the cable disconnected from the shift plate I cannot get reverse.

Cool, the drive is installed correctly because you don't want to r & r it

You can't achieve reverse when you cheat it let alone as designed.

The cables are installed/adjusted accordingly

Pull the drive again and be sure the shift shafts mate properly...

Well then, if you had the control box in full fwd and the drive in full fwd when you installed the drive then youmissed the roller in the slide or improperly installed the cable or improperly adjusted the cable

The drive cannot come off because it's the end of the boating world for you. Dreadful

And for those of you looking for actual advice and help as opposed to the “admiral’s” self-aggrandizing pay on the back, check the condition of the roller that slides into the shift fork on the cable when re-installing the outdrive.

the shift cable is fwd drive the barrel and the post is the 6 inches ..
look up the shift cable of the youtube ..
