I'm working on an old 89 Bomber bass boat. Some of the hinge screws on the hatches and pedestal plates have stripped/pulled through. What's the best way to re-secure them into fiberglass?

Is there wood behind the fiberglass ? or is it just a thick layer of glass ... If wood it's probably rotted and needs to be replaced ..

It's just thick glass

If you know for certain that it is just fiberglass, then you can do a few things to solve this issue. You can drill out the old fiberglass and then fill it in with new polyester mixture to fill in the holes. Then drill new holes for the hinges and install. You could also drill a little larger hole to accommodate a next size up screw. There are many ways to fix your problem. JMHO!

I did a similar repair by drilling all the way through ad replacing with a screw with a nyloc nut. I had the same issue only in wood and while I could have gotten fancy, drilling all the way through and adding a nut also let me put washers on them. With a little bit of 4200 in the screw hole it should be a long term repair. Die grinder knocked any extra screw off and a quick easy fix. Might not work in your application, but worth thinking on.
