I got this motor a while ago and forgotten about it and releized I never received papers or info on it ....so the ? Is does anyone have any ideas the year or how I can obtain I title ....cannt find any numbers at all

You must know more about it than you have told us. What makes you think it is a Merc?

All. Know is its a 40 mercury has silver stripe around side and says mercury in between stripes ...I have pics but dont know how to post

How many cylinders does it have? If it is a newer engine it should have a disc like this on the powerhead:

Definitely not new ...it says 400 on it and its a 2 cylinder
