Motor mount side play

Hello All,

I have a 1988 115 hp Merc in-line 6. There seems to be a lot of side-to-side play in the upper bolts holding the motor to the swivel bracket. The lower mounts are very solid. The two upper bolts that go through the swivel bracket and into the exhaust extention just "spin" when tightened.

Is this normal? Is there anyway to tightent these bolts without removing the powerhead?

Those motor mount bolts are usually tightened all the way, when installed. You are likely seeing a worn out rubber mount.

Do you mean front to back play, or side to side play? The only way to replace them is to pull the powerhead and exhaust extension.
