trying to identify 250 john model#j250vx995 can't seem to find any thing to match these numbers want to know for future refs

Have you taken a look at the model year guide at BRP's website?

Using the decoder, the best I can come up is with this:
Johnson, 250 HP, Special gear case, 25" length.

Last 3 numbers don't seem to work, as they look like they are supposed to be letters (by the decoder). Are you sure the last 3 digits are numbers, and not letters?
