What I don't understand is why I'm wasting time arguing with a nitpicker.:D

That ain't a fight. It's an animated discussion, with tongue in cheek.:D

Otherwise known as friendly ribbing.

It wasn't necessary, and I'm sure in hindsight you could have been a bit less confrontational. ;)

Interesting. You know, the whole purpose of this post was to poke fun at myself. This is a concept that is done regularly in this section, and my second post was to add another example of a second concept of observing silly behavior of other boaters. This whole section seems to be devoted to just that, and I can't figure why other users like yourself and TerryMSU feel the need to criticize posts for their content, even when they're posted in the appropriate section. I suppose that if this was in another section your commentary would be appropriate, but I'm a little confused as to why it's showing up in this sub-forum.

As for my confrontational comments, I was responding in kind to the tone of his criticism, which I found to be misplaced. Anyway, thank you for getting involved and for your thoughts on the subject. Have a nice day.

Cheers.

Yes, I know that. Just seems like some others don't share the sentiment which is sad. This is a great board, full of serious technical help from which I have benefitted greatly and also enjoy sharing what I learned. My appreciation to whomever made this section so we could all relax and openly share our feelings on situations we encounter and laugh about them. I, at least, am having a good time and recommend this site to a lot of other people in the boating community.

Meh.....we got to the ramp we wanted to use last Saturday, a one laner, only to find the local sheriff's dept. rescue boats there. Unfortunately, one of them was a pontoon that was almost launched but wouldn't start.

A half hour later, after about 6 different guys tried working on something under the motor's hood, it finally started.....raggedly.

C'est la vie.....at least it gave us plenty of time to leisurely load our stuff into our boat. Hated the wait, though.

Criticise?
I was just offering an explanation for why the thread had gotten somewhat confrontational....you seemed surprised
Someone disagreeing with you neither implies criticism...nor that they did not understand your position.
If you pick a fight (and IMO your patronising response to Terry did exactly that):....
Maybe you should go back and reread my post and understand it before you criticize. Let me paraphrase it for you:
you should not feign surprise when one breaks out.

I was just a casual bystander until you did the "who me?" and I just responded "yes you".

You were just a casual bystander until you made a comment. ;) I never intended to incite any ill feelings with TerryMSU or anyone else and again, the tone of my response was mitigated solely by the tone of his post and answered in kind. Apparently he disagreed with both my observation and choice to use "geniuses" to describe the individuals involved. How this differs from any of the other posts in this section still baffles me. I thought my sarcastic use of "geniuses" would be better received here than the other names people have called offenders but apparently not. The confrontation started when Terry posted what I perceived to be a "snotty" response explaining the actions of the boaters in question. As for the argument in the locked thread, that occurred during a period when I wasn't even on this board. I just found it mildly amusing that what I thought was an innocent observation placed in the appropriate forum turned sour in both cases, with or without my "help."

Thanks for clearing up my confusion though.

OK, I was a wee bit snotty. My appologies. What triggered my response was the 60-something reference combined with the fact that I mis-understood what bkwapisz was trying to communicate. I am pushing that 60-somthing point and I am sure that sometimes I get a ration of garbage because I am not a twenty-something boating genius. I am of the age where I was taught to respect my elders.

Terry- For the official record, the 60-something reference was a descriptor only, NOT intended to poke fun AT ALL at anyone older than I (38.) I live in Northern Michigan and most of the 60+ year olds up here can run circles around me, no lie. I respect elders too and will dispense with the age-related stuff to avoid confusion. Again, never intended to poke at you codgers. :D And hey, keep in mind that the "moron" in the title was me. ;)
