More power from 66 merc 500?

Okay, not sure if there is any truth to this, but I was talking to a guy who said that I could take my merc 500 and put carbs from a 650 on it and it will make it a 650?

This winter I plan to pull them off and rebuild them, but if there is any truth to putting on 650 carbs I would be interested in it...

He is full of crap, there are many things that can be done to modifiy the engine but not by the average person.

The 65 is a larger motor - significantly larger. Putting 65hp carbs on a 50 will only make the 50 run poorly, if it runs at all...
