So we started off thinking that the engine was locking up. She would be running along fine and all of a sudden the engine dies and and couldn't turn it over with anything. Appeared to be running hot also. Then it would just release and start running again. So we decided to put in a new Ecotec 4.3 L. Still happened. And new engine was running hot still.

Then life happens and she sits in the garage as I save up money and then spend it on more pressing matters.

Finally I decide to either repair or replace the outdrive. Guess what? There was output shaft to downshaft gear was full of broken bearings! And the water pump she was a no pumping, it was all melted!

Once the outdrive was reassembled and installed it ran great. Now it seemed like a full resto was possible.

Chapter 2 coming up.

Chapter 2

Next up was a full cut and buff on the hull with a ceramic coating.

The boat had been garaged most of the time so the hull finish came out super nice.

The seating was very old school with fold-down back to back seats and an engine pod. So we designed a more modern layout with captain seats and a rear bench with padded sun deck covering the engine.

Adding a window tint which did a lot to change the look of the boat. Removed some very 90's looking stripes and replaced the Monterey logo on the gunwhales to make it look more modern as well. Can't see it but the trailer was also buffed and recarpeted. Amazing how many little things have to be done!

Now waiting to receive and install the SeaDek synthetic teak swim step cover. That should be here in a month or two.
