Has anyone else seen the show where 2 "experts" are in Africa, I think on the Congo river looking for a reported living dinosaur? They float down the river in a large dugout canoe and watch a fishfinder for signs of the "creature". Then they drop an underwater camera and are excited to see long "serpent" like returns on the fishfinder that are obviously coming from the camera they have dangled down there. I think they probably figured that out eventually, but were too embarassed to say so on the show

Haven't run onto that one yet, mommicked. Would have moved on right away. The spectrum is really loaded these days with pseudo scientific searches for mythological creatures, UFOs, ghosts, vampires, werewolves and other fantasies. What a waste of resources that could educate and enlighten.

Re: Monsterquest morons

My sentiments exactly JB. Most all of the shows are just ridiculous and a waste of broadcasting, the veiwers time and brain capacity. I sometimes watch a few minutes just to see how stupid/silly these "experts' really are. They attempt to justify their investigations and methods saying things like "it's known", "common knowledge", "widely held" " historically it's been shown" things like "bigfoot eats such and such and this area has everthing they need to survive", "this is a natural travel corridor for the creatures", "this could be a bigfoot nest" looked like a deer or bear bedded down in the grass to me, da, da ,da or the eyewitness has seen bears before and this was not a bear he saw in his headlights ( in bear country), so it must have been bigfoot etc. etc. They also search for these "creatures" often at night w flashlights and every noise they hear is the creature, not just another well know native animal. If looking for a supected nocturnal beast would'nt it be easier to find or spot in the daylight while they're sleeping? The producers or someone involved must know this is all a farce, but produce these shows anyway, helping to perpetuate myths and continue the dumbing down of people who would believe these stories. I miss Mutual of Omahas Wild Kingdom, that was a good "Creature" show:)

Re: Monsterquest morons

I always enjoyed The History Channel, TLC, Discovery and channels like them. The last couple of years though these networks have all turned into "reality show" (and I use the term reality loosely) networks. Seems like these networks have went from trying to educate people to trying to entertain the naive masses. I don't even watch these shows. I did see one episode of Monster Quest. (I think I had lost the remote or or something LOL) They were in Ohio I think, looking for bigfoot. Dumbest thing I ever saw. Like Mommicked said, they automatically assumed any noise they heard was bigfoot, not a native animal. If this is what networks have to put on to stay afloat nowadays, I dread the future of TV programming.

Several years ago I was watching a show on Discovery I think, they were looking for miniature Bigfoots in China/Tibet, I called them and gave them the address of my exwife but they were not interested. Short, stocky howled at the moon, sounded like my ex...

I think these shows are the infomercial of the decade..

You forgot Mr. Rowe. Although I do like his show, and think it's educational from the standpoint of showing how some hard working people earn their bread.

Re: Monsterquest morons

If they really wanted to discover stuff they need to track down and identify good guys. Like my good buddy "Mesquite Monster" who masquerades as a three legged Coyote female named "Tripod". She can howl a lot better than Bigmouth. . .errr. . .Bigfoot. More like singing than howling, anyway.

When she hits the right note. . .SHAZAM!!. . . she turns into Mesquite Monster and her shrieks terrify little kids for miles around. She comes to The Hideout for her favorite snack, peanut butter and cheese sandwiches with a dram of single malt. She is too wise to appear in headlights or make weird tracks in mud (not that there is usually a lot of mud around The Hideout).

Helicopter seeks bigfoot

A helicopter spotted in the Rutland skies recently is looking for bigfoot, according to the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce.

The Animal Planet program “Finding Bigfoot,” in which a “research team” looks into supposed sightings of the legendary sasquatch, is filming an episode in the area and the flights are taking aerial footage for the production.

Re: Monsterquest morons

"research team" sounds better than "group of otherwise intelligent people who believe in Bigfoot" ! If they would announce their upcoming "Quests" or "expeditions" more often i'm sure they'd spot more evedence like tracks, broken branches! and guys in fur coats...... I mean Bigfoots :D I would love to prank them especially at night making loud "Bigfoot vocalizations" and cracking sticks and shaking trees:eek: but would have a hard time concealing my hysterical laughter!

Re: Monsterquest morons

I caught an episode of MonsterQuest (well I wasn't really watching it, on Iboats here and the show was background noise) when the monster at hand was the MothMan. MothMan, HAH, that's laughable.

I overheard Trempealeau, WI and immediately turned my attention to the TV as I grew up in that tiny little town. It turns out that I used to play in areas (Perrot Park, Trempealeau Mountain) where the MothMan was sighted and I guess I'm lucky to still be alive to this day! Who knew I grew up in a hot bed of paranormal activity... :D

As a conversation piece I'll bring it up from time to time, my sister, mom and dad got a good laugh out of it.
