Hi
I was given a 14ft Monark Jon boat by an old friend. The boat has been sitting in his yard for years with no registration. The HIN tag on the transom is missing??? He beleieves that is due to him replacing the wood in the transom and having to pull out all bolts and rivets and may have lost it. Is there anywhere else in the boat that should have the HIN? Hidden spots etc. The boat is in great shape and I would like to restore it but need the HIN to tiltle and register it in Florida.
Any help would be appreciated since Starcraft/Monark has been no help.

Thanks

Great response Tashasdady..

There is also a chance that the HIN is stamped into the hull somewhere. I have 1990 Western that has it stamped on the right side of the transom. I used a pencil and a piece of tracing paper to pull it up since it was barely readable to the naked eye. If the number is stamped somewhere, it will be where it can be found without taking the boat out of the water (according to USCG regs). This allows for on the water proof of identification by officials should the need arise. That's what's supposed to happen anyway.. These are boats though so pretty much anything goes. LOL
