Hello,

I just got me a used boat with a Johnson V4 90hp outboard on it and a 12V trolling motor. I?m trying to decide what charging system, if any (I only fish a few hours in the morning, never a full day), I should use to keep my trolling battery charged while on the lake. Now, I know I need to get me an onboard charger; so my question is really about charging the trolling motor battery while on the water with the engine running.
I?ve looked at several different systems, and I?m down to two:
What do y?all know about the Minn Kota MK-DC on board DC alternator, and the Blue Sea SI 120 ACR? What are the differences between the two and which one would you recommend? They both seem to perform the exact same job to me. Also, which one is easier to install?

Second question: Would it be possible to plug an inverter to the 12V outlet, then plug the onboard charger to that inverter, then hook-up the trolling battery to the charger? That way the battery would get charged when there?s power at the 12V outlet. Would it be an easier set up?
Thanks
