Lost the first photos ☹ bought it as project boat. Came with a Spare engine (this one didn't have a cracked block) pulled engine and after a new fuel pump and a new alternator got it into the water, fixed a few leaks, running all day bilge pump runs once. Found a lot of wood rot I am doing a complete rebuild new deck, carpet, all the wood above the deck.

Thanks removing the pilot station lots of broken rivets. Dashboard is broken in two places, fixable I think. Badly warped on top, just like the navigation side, I glued a 1 inch board underneath and it is flat again. Got the pilot side wood done. Getting better at vinyl, I attached some aluminum channel on the bottom, hoping to keep it a little more protective.

I believe you legally must have it on the boat. Idk the details of an 18’ though.

Tested the run stop switch, it is closed on off and opened on run. How do you connect it? It was completely disconnected.

then that is the wrong man-over-board switch. I/O switches open when you pull the lanyard. they are wired in the pink wire from the ignition key to the engine

outboard Man-over-board switches close in the off position. they are wired between the ignition and ground to ground out the magneto to kill the engine.

On the IOs the circuit goes from keyed power at the ignition switch which is normally on the dash, through the kill switch to the 12v power on the coil. The circuit is closed to give power to the coil and when pulled it opens the circuit cutting the power off.

Electric fuel pump
I was thinking of converting to a Electric fuel pump from the mechanical one. Is it difficult, do I need a new tank? Is there a benefit, any safety issue?

I prefer a mechanical pump because they last decades and cost $45-50 vs $100 to install an electric pump that lasts about 7 years

I wouldn't change out the mechanical pump and no you don't need a new tank, they make inline electric pumps.

Try to get the right switch, the only ones I have found were for outboards, went to the boat scrapyard no luck, but one of the old mechanics told me some of the old switches could be taken apart and switched. The switch was held in place by two tabs, pulled it out turned it 180 and snapped it back in and now it is closed on run and open on stop, I even got two small planer boards for a buck each. another problem done.
