New to this forum, but let me say ahead of time that I do appreciate any advice,insite,direction..
I tried to go fishing yesterday with my nephew's Tracker 40Hp. Being a mechanic and somewhat obsessive I check oil battery and everything else before launch. After ample time to warm up (of course watching for good water stream) I set out, but only make it about on half mile before a loud (Extremely annoying) tone starts piercing my ears. Shut down immediately, chech everything again, still full of oil, good water stream, but the tone starts every time that the switch is turned on, motor running or not.
I was told that the tone was a low oil warning buzzer. The guy told me of his same experience a couple of years earlier. Apparently the marina mechanic told him to disconnect the signal wire to the buzzer, eliminate the oil tank, mix the oil in the fuel and be done with it. "It is an inherit problem with the oil level sensor".
Again being a mechanic myself and in an engineering decipline I find it very chaffing to my grain to do the things he suggested, but it seeems to make sense.
Any suggestions?
