I have a 96 150 efi I noticed that the oil in the reservoir was, less than a 1/4 tank. I tried starting the engine before I noticed the low oil level, no luck wouldn't start. No alarm sounded from the engine. The main tank is almost completely full, but not refilling the reservoir. The engine turns over fine. I had the engine running about two weeks ago.

oil and/or oiler stuff has nothin' ta do with it startin'.... it will start without any oil what so ever if tha rest of tha motor is ok...

not keepin' motor tank up ta snuff can be 'bout 3 things.. dirty screen in bottom pick up of main (in boat) tank.. pulse valve (right below tha starter) bad.. pressure fittin' ("T" fittin' with one open end) in supply to motor tank.. usually 'bout even with tha spin on filter....... forgot, any type air leak in any of tha lines between tha pulse valve ta boat tank and/or boat tank to tha motor tank....

Thanks for your response. I'll check the pickup line in the main tank. Should the alarm have sounded with the reservoir that low ?
The engine doesn't seem like it's trying to start just winds over real smooth, any thoughts. Checked the plugs a couple weeks ago before I had it running. The boat has been sitting dry docked for about 5 years. I'm using new gas from a portable tank until I finish flushing the main tank

set for that length of time creates a lotta reasons it won't do things its supposed to...

yes, you should get an alarm.. do you get tha three (sounds like two dots and a dash) self check beeps when you turn tha key on?

pre mix fuel and oil (50 ta 1) in remote tank till ya get it runnin'.. then ya can deal with "why no alarm".......

does tha electric fuel pump run?.. should run 15 ta 20 seconds when key is turned on then shut off automatically if motor isn't started .. you can hear it with cowl off.. if not you can start there..... get back to us!!!

PM me an email addy and i'll send ya an OEM manual in pdf.. it will make Merc problem solvin' a lot easier for ya....
