Re: Mercury Classic 50 Tilt Issue
We figured it out, on the right side of the motor mount there is a hex head screw with a screwdriver slot. Loosen this screw until you can pull up the motor by hand. Once up, lock the motor into the upright position with the support / lock bar which is on the left of the motor. If you are having issues determining why the motor wont go up try checking the oil in the tilt reservoir to ensure you have a sufficient amount of oil or apply 12 volts power to each of the wires for up and down. There are 2 switches on the left side of the motor, the top is up and the bottom is down. I found that the right side of each switch is energized with 12 volts. One at a time, remove the left wires from switch and apply 12 volts directly from a battery, you will find that the wires will be blue or green and will run directly to the tilt pump. The motor should make a high pitched noise. In my case the switch was energized but not functioning properly and had to be replaced. Good luck.
