hay everybody, thanks in advance for the help and support.
Well here is some information about it.
90hp, 3 cylinders (serial no 9740819) have three carburators. I do not know how old it is, but it looks old. The machine has a key and an electric choke. It was starting fine. Then, it is ideling but not starting eventhough the choke is clincking.
I put new battery and spark plugs with no luck.
May be the flywheel have sliped, how do I know. Will the carborator cleaning help. How do I know that the starter is ok eventhough it is kicking the flywheel.

Go to the Engine FAQs and do the troubleshooting in "Outboard won't start". Let us know what you find.

Re: Mercury 90hp not starting

I do thank you JB. Please bare with me because my know how about this machine is minimal. I already searched the forum in the morning, and found helpfull information that I tryed. Here is what I did.

Opened the air cover behind the carburators, and found that the floats may be called (vertical round brass peices) are stuck closed in all the three carbs, is it normal. I pumbed some fuel, saw it flowing through the first filter, but didn't see it coming from the nossells. I put about 3ml of mixed oil/fuel into the carbs tryed to start it, but it didn't.

Removed the spark plugs sprayed about 3ml of mixed oil/fuel into each hall reintalled the plugs and wires, fired the babe and it started normally. Tryed to fire her again with no lock.

Hi finally it started and went fishing. I did put abit of carburator sparay cleaner into the carb nozels, waited for a while then started it. It backfired a little bit, shut it off and started it again, it started fine. Thanks JB.

you may need to get different spark plugs.I would recommend taking your boat in for repairs.
