I have a 1990 Merc 9.9 2 stroke. The existing coils are attached to the block via a bolt through the center of the coil. All the replacements I have looked at do have a hole but it is covered with a rubber skirt. Can I remove the skirt and run the bolt through the center of the new coil? Doesn't seem right hence the question?
